Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2025-12-07T11:03Z ( DSCOVR: PLASMAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
DSCOVR: PLASMAG
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
Activity ID: 2025-12-07T11:03:00-IPS-001 (version 3)
Quality of ICME Signature: -1 (unspecified)
Note: Characterized by a gradual enhancement in magnetic field components (B_t: approx. 6.5nT to 9.9nT , B_x: approx. 2.6nT to 8.7nT , B_y: approx. -6.4nT to 5.4nT , B_z: approx. -1.8nT to 8.2nT) along with an a minor increase in temperature (approx. 41kK to 275kK) and a minor decrease in solar wind speeds (approx. 576 km/s to 495 km/s). There was no clear response in density components. This arrival occurred in the middle of a coronal hole high speed stream impact, which may explain why speeds decreased rather than increased as would be expected. This signature exhibited clear separation of magnetic field components which remained constant through 2025-12-09T08:10Z. There was very little rotation observed in this separation, possibly suggesting a glancing blow signature opposed to a direct impact. This signature may be associate with the combined or successive arrivals of CME: 2025-12-04T07:00Z and CME: 2025-12-05T07:09Z.
